It’s National Engineers Week (February 16-22), and we’re thrilled to celebrate the talented engineers at Bishop-Wisecarver® and Wisecarver Automation who turn challenges into innovative motion solutions every day. The 2025 Engineers Week theme, “Design Your Future”, celebrates the boundless potential of engineering to solve problems, improve industries, and transform lives. This year, we’re sharing insights from some of our own engineers, highlighting their experiences, inspirations, and the impact they hope to make in the industry.
Check out what our new engineering team at Wisecarver Automation has to say and join us in celebrating the impact of engineering!
"I have been building radio control cars since I was about 8 years old, and I have always had a fascination with making mechanical, electrical, electronics, and control systems work together. When I discovered Mechatronics was a degree pathway with a focus in those specific areas, I knew I had found my calling! Now I get to spend my days doing what I love; designing systems, wiring components, playing with motors, and programing automated systems!
I am most excited about the resources Bishop-Wisecarver affords to the Wisecarver Automation team. We now have the ability to handle everything in-house, from initial concept designs, to fabrication and refinement, to final consumer product! Being able to take an idea and turn it into reality has always been my favorite part of Engineering, and now being a part of Bishop-Wisecarver makes it easier than ever!"Justin McKenzie (Control Systems Engineer)
"I’ve always had a passion for taking things apart, from clocks to cameras, just to understand how mechanical devices work. However, I wasn’t always great at putting them back together! Studying engineering gave me the skills to complete the puzzle—it helped me learn how to conceptualize, prototype, and create solutions to complex problems. It also sharpened my critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, which I use in everyday life.
I am excited for the collaboration and exchange of knowledge within our teams to allow us to tackle more complex challenges and drive innovation. We will be able to build on the current opportunities at Bishop-Wisecarver to develop more intricate and advanced systems. We can push the boundaries of automation, expand into new industries, and refine our existing products to better meet the needs of our customers."Timothy Bui (Mechanical Engineer)
"I think that I have always appreciated making the best of what you got, and ultimately that is the spirit of engineering to me. For a long time as a kid, I wanted to be a chef (and I still love cooking), but the things that I like about cooking are right there in engineering. I have a limited amount of materials, time, and techniques to deliver the best product possible. The fun part is figuring out how to blend those elements together to really create something great, be it a new dish or some kind of automated machinery. Engineering allowed me to share that kind of spirit across lots of different industries in a way that cooking just couldn't for me.
To piggyback off my previous answer, the most exciting part of being a part of the Bishop-Wisecarver family now is the expansion of our capabilities and expertise in the traditional mechanical world. You can program a machine till the cows come home, but ultimately it doesn't mean a whole lot until it affects the outside world. The synergy of expertise in both fields helps us create the best products possible in ways that our team couldn't even consider previously."Conor F. Hargan (Control Systems Engineer)
“I remember as a kid visiting the factories where my dad worked. I was fascinated by the intricate machines, the precision of automated processes, and the sheer ingenuity behind them. That early curiosity grew into a passion for problem-solving and efficiency. I’ve always enjoyed finding smarter, simpler ways to get things done, like programming a machine to handle a task while I relax! The idea of using technology to automate tasks and enhance productivity continues to inspire me.
I am excited to join forces with Bishop-Wisecarver’s legacy of innovation in motion solutions. With expertise in automation, robotics, and control systems, we have the opportunity to tackle even more complex engineering challenges and expand into new markets. This collaboration will push boundaries and drive innovation to deliver smarter, more efficient solutions - all while reinforcing a culture of teamwork and excellence that I’m proud to be part of."Devang A. Raval (Software Engineer)
